Dakar 2026, A Historic Step for GBL Alliance

For the first time in its history, GBL Alliance will gather on the African continent.

From May 6 to May 8, members and invited guests will meet in Dakar for what promises to be an important milestone in the continued growth of the alliance.

In this exclusive full interview, Rolf Trijber speaks with local host Léon Patrice Sarr about why Dakar is the right location, why the timing matters, and what makes this conference different from previous editions.

Why Dakar?

According to Léon Patrice Sarr, Dakar is a logical and strategic choice for GBL Alliance.

As the capital of Senegal, Dakar is recognised as a stable and internationally connected business centre. Senegal has built a reputation for political and legal reliability, while Dakar continues to grow as a gateway to West Africa.

For an international alliance such as GBL, it creates an opportunity to connect global legal expertise with one of the world’s most dynamic regions.

What Members Can Expect

This conference is designed to offer more than a traditional gathering.

Attendees can expect high-level networking, meaningful conversations and the opportunity to meet respected African law firms interested in international cooperation.

Léon describes the event as not only a meeting of old friends, but a meeting of minds. It is an environment where new ideas, fresh perspectives and future partnerships can emerge.

A Unique Business Atmosphere

Dakar combines professionalism with hospitality in a way few cities can.

Modern facilities, a coastal setting, strong cuisine and a relaxed atmosphere create the right conditions for productive meetings and genuine relationships. Business can be conducted at a high level, while the city itself offers space, energy and character.

That balance between ambition and hospitality is part of what makes Dakar unique.

Different from a Traditional European Conference

Léon explains that the spirit of Dakar is centred on expansion and discovery.

Where many established markets focus on consolidation, Dakar represents momentum and future growth. Several African firms are looking to build stronger international relationships, creating a conference atmosphere shaped by opportunity and forward thinking.

It is a moment where new bridges can be built between continents and between firms with shared ambitions.

A Defining Chapter

The 2026 Spring Conference in Dakar reflects the continued international development of GBL Alliance.

More than a destination, Dakar represents a new chapter, one focused on connection, growth and a wider global future.
